Charter

The purpose of the Certificate Authority Operations (CAOPS) Working Group is to develop operational procedures and guidelines that facilitate the use of X.509 and other technologies for cross grid Authentication.  By developing common practices, we hope to facilitate mutually accepted Authentication services. The GGF has developed a model CP/CPS to be used by sites and Virtual Organizations that will deploy a CA. The efforts of this working group, will focus on issues associated with deploying Certificate Authorities.  The CAOPS WG will not be working on User private key management.

The following topics must be addressed by any new Certificate Authority and represent potential areas for developing operational procedures and guidelines to help the community.

4. Certificate Profiles
5. Certificate Revocation list management
6. Physical security management
7. Disaster recovery

Milestones

1. GGF VIII       Last call: PKI Disclosure Statement, Automated Client Certificates
2. GGF VIV       Final drafts of: PMA charter, Certificate profile, Common CA naming
3. GGF X           Finish
